One of the biggest concerns that most people have when it comes to their physical appearance has to do with their smiles, particularly how white and vibrant their teeth look. In a world that is obsessed with beauty, this is one that actually has a lot of validity behind it.
The fact is that having a good looking smile is less about vanity and more about the conscious effort to make sure that your oral health is in good condition. The manifestation of this is a bright, healthy smile. When we have a yellowish hue to our teeth, it not only shows a lack of proper dental care, but it also a relays the message that we don't care about our internal wellness. In addition to coming into our offices for regular checkups, here are a couple of other things that you can do in between appointments:
Stay Away from Counterproductive Foods and Beverages
While there are a number of consumables that are beneficial when it comes to helping care for your teeth and gums, there are countless more that are not. Refined flours and sugars, highly acidic products, sweets, sodas, and dark brewed drinks can all turn that bright white into a pale yellow.
Drink Plenty of Healthy Fluids and Juices
Secondly, water and healthy fruit and vegetable juices can have the opposite effect and actually help to break up and wash away the particles which are settling on your teeth and turning down the volume on your smile. Rinsing with water or mouthwash after snacking is also helpful.
So if it is time for your next dental exam, cleaning, or if you are looking to have a whitening performed, simply contact us as soon as you are ready and we would be glad to schedule a session for you.
